The NASCAR Cup Series night race at Daytona has been delayed until Sunday afternoon on account of persistent heavy rain throughout Saturday evening.
The 400-mile 160 lap race was due to start at 19.40 local time but rain forced a delay before organisers eventually announced the postponement.
Rescheduled to take place during daylight hours on Sunday, the race is set to start at 13.00 local time.
The current forecast does suggest that scattered thunderstorms are still possible around the new start time.
Penske’s Joey Logano will start from pole position after qualifying was cancelled on Thursday night due to lightning.
With the grid order subsequently determined by team owner points, Logano will be joined on the front row by Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch.
